Review extracted ingredients
After Photo Match analyzes your photos, you land on the review screen — a list of every ingredient the AI identified, with confidence scores. This step exists because AI vision isn’t perfect, especially for partially-visible or unusual items.
What you see
Each item shows:
- Ingredient name — what the AI thinks it is (“Bell peppers”, “Whole milk”)
- Confidence indicator — high (green), medium (yellow), low (red). Low-confidence items need extra scrutiny.
- Source thumbnail — a small thumbnail of the photo it came from, with the item highlighted
- Estimated quantity — if visible (e.g., “1 dozen”, “2 lb chicken thighs”). Often blank.
- Toggle — keep / discard
Items are grouped by photo, so you can review one image’s items at a time. A search bar at the top lets you find specific items.
Approve or remove items
For each item:
- Tap the green checkmark → keep in the final list
- Tap the red X → discard
- Long-press → bring up more options (rename, change quantity, change category)
If an item’s name is close but not exact (e.g., “Apples” but you want “Honeycrisp apples”), tap to edit the name.
Fix common mistakes
Mistake: AI calls something the wrong thing.
- “Yogurt” identified as “sour cream” → tap the name → rename to yogurt.
Mistake: AI duplicates an item across photos.
- Same milk jug visible in 2 photos → counted as 2 milks. Forktastic tries to deduplicate, but for clearly-same items, you can long-press one and merge with the other.
Mistake: AI misses something visible.
- Tap + Add manually at the bottom and type the item.
Mistake: AI invents something not there (rare but possible).
- Tap the red X. The item is removed from the final list.
Confidence scores explained
- High confidence (green) — the AI is confident this is what it says. Skip review for these unless they look obviously wrong.
- Medium confidence (yellow) — the AI is fairly sure but the label has ambiguity. Glance at the thumbnail to verify.
- Low confidence (red) — the AI flagged this as uncertain. Likely needs your manual judgment.
Sorting by confidence (ascending) brings the items most needing review to the top of the list.
Finalize the list
When the list is what you want it to be:
- Tap Done or Continue at the bottom.
- Forktastic offers two next steps:
- Add to grocery list — for items you don’t have (the AI saw your fridge; convert to a shopping list)
- Match to recipes — find recipes you can make with what you do have
You can do either, both, or just save the list to your account for later reference.
Save without using
If you just want to inventory and don’t need a grocery or recipe action right now:
- Tap Save inventory at the bottom.
- The list is saved to Options → Photo Match → Saved inventories.
Useful for tracking pantry state over time, or making note before a shopping trip without immediately deciding what to do with the data.
